GSPOS was written for one shop in Andhra Pradesh, changed whenever something annoyed the person at the counter, and only offered to other shops once it had survived a year of ordinary days.

Why it exists

The hour after the
shutter comes down.

Every kirana owner knows it. The shop closes, and then the book comes out. Who took what on udhaar, who paid something back, what the day actually made. An hour of arithmetic when you are already tired, and a mistake anywhere means an argument later.

  • The book was never the problem — the adding up was
  • Existing apps assumed steady internet and a literate operator
  • None of them treated khata as the main thing
Honest about the state of it

What is done, what is next,
and what is not there yet.

A young product that pretends to be finished is a product you cannot plan around. So here is the actual state of it.

Now

Open beyond our own counter

The thirteen screens are done and in daily use. GSPOS is free for every shop while we learn what breaks at counters that are not ours.

  • Billing, khata, stock, vendors, reports, staff
  • Offline billing with no double-billing
  • WhatsApp reminders
  • Download your whole database
Next

The things shops keep asking for

In the order they have actually been asked for, not the order that is easiest to build.

  • GST invoicing
  • Help moving a paper book across
  • Better reports, printed and shareable
  • A proper Android app beside the web one
Later

Once there are enough shops to justify it

Named here rather than promised. If it is on this list it is not being worked on yet.

  • Several shops under one owner
  • Supplier ordering
  • A lending view for the khata book
Not planned

Things we have decided against

Saying no is part of the design. These have been considered and turned down.

  • Selling or sharing your shop's data
  • Locking a shop out of its ledger over a payment
  • Ads anywhere in the counter
Who builds it

One person. Worth
knowing before you rely on it.

I built this for a shop I know, because the evening arithmetic was taking an hour and getting it wrong caused arguments. Everything in it exists because somebody standing at that counter asked for it.

The counter
Billing, khata, stock, the lot.
The server
Backups, uptime, the syncing.
Support
The WhatsApp you message is mine.
Everything else
This website included.

All of it, by one person. That is worth knowing before you rely on it — it means quick answers and slow releases, in that order.

We are looking for shops willing to say what is wrong with it. That is worth more to us than the subscription.
